Ugh. Stressed around all morning, wroking and trying to translate UF. It'll probably suck. Oh well, I'm too tired to care.

Kasakitis advice for today: never volonteer, until you know what you get yourself into.
:P

I knew I shouldn't have done it. I just knew.
What? Oh. um.
Reading my new C.S Friedman book of course, what else?
sheepish grin

But I mean.. I was just going to take a peek at the first chapter. I wasn't really going to read anything. Not really.

So don't come here and ask why I had a 2 hour lunchbreak! I'll deny everything....

(It's a damnably good book though... The Madness Season. By C.S. Friedman. Go on, get out and buy it at once!)

Oo... using ircii again, I get swamped in nostalga.

Makes me remember the good ol' days when I was a pure IRC Addict of the worst kind...
'twas xmas '95.. I'd just gotten my first modem, but the dial-in to my college wasn't set up yet. What does the really desperate person do?
One conspires with a friend who attends a different college with a working connection, obtains her password, and since it's a Unix machine and one has no good communications clients, one uses Trumpet Winsock (yes, win3.11).

That is, one uses Trumpet Winsock to dial up with. And ircs using ircii through. Thinking back now, it's quite uninmagineable. What was I thinking?. I do have a log file floating around from this time, somewhere on a harddrive, and I'm decided now to dig it up so I can look at it now and again and marvel at my addiction....

Replaced the ugly green layout for now.

Another day at work. Good thing it's friday. Especially since the day started as described below.

This was also posted on the chatforum...

ARGH! Allow me to vent...
Scenario:
(As some of you know) I work with software support. This requires me to use Lotus Notes to log cases. I.e all the questions I get (fax, mail, phone).
I also do a lot of testing, which require me to change the system clock.
A peculiar feature of Lotus Notes is that it notices that I set the system clock to some future date, but it does not notice that I set it back to todays date. When adding a new case, the date is fine too, in the open document, but when I close it the annoying feature steps in and registers the whole thing on that future date. Following so far?

So, this happened earlier this week, but since I have no access to the delete function, I just ignored it. (The notes-server etc is at head-office, located elsewhere.)
Several days later I get a mail from person X (first name only, with a reply-to address that points to a general mailbox) that asks me to reregister the cases, becuase it messes up their statistics. Sure. Silently cursing I set about reregistering the cases, so they'll end up on todays date and not a future one. I reply to the mail, saying that I have done so, they can delete the 'faulty' cases, and could they please look into if they could give me delete-rights for at least the stuff I register myself.
This I have to send to this general mailaddress, because finding person X in a company with many thousands employees is rather tricky.
Then I get the reply.

Telling me that 'if I have any problems or questions I should mail address x@x.x'. The only problem is that x@x.x is the support-mailadress for MY company. I.e, he's asking me, to ask myself! ARGH! The IQ-level is Not High. Neither is my confidence in them.

Kasakitis wanders off, torn in a state between fuming and laughing her head off

Hmm... not too bad, after all.

Well, just starting out with this.. I wonder how the ugly green layout will work?
