Sometimes it's the little things that can make or break you day... Last night, when going home from the trainstation, mine was definatly made. :)
I spotted these ducks, (correctly observed by fang, they're properly called mallards) who were patiently awaiting the traffic to abate so they could cross the road. They went around quietly quacking, more or less ignoring my intrusive presence.

Trivia:
Disconvered something funny recently; Discovery Europe shows these 2-5 minute spots featuring different people who do interesting things, and when watching tv the other night, who do I see? If not the guy who taught us how to build bows and arrows last year!
There's this short spot, and he talks about blacksmithing (you can see him working on an arrowhead). Very neat. :)
Reminds me I really should get to finishing my bow. Hmmm... come autumn, maybe

Play.com got Buffy season 2 today \o/ So my copy should be on the way.
And it's perfect timing too... it's payday today. ;)
On another note, I bought a nice stack of books today. 9 I think it was... not enterily sure. About $80 worth though. Storekeeper was so happy that I bought so much he gave me a 10% discount. I loves that store!

To sum up the past week:
* I now have a new bike. 'tis greeeeeen and pretty! Very vital details for a bike to have. (would have cost as much to fix the old as getting a new)
* My Buffy season one box has arrived, with season two on the way.
* Spring has finally kicked in, for real. \o/ (the allergics are not happy)
* I started reading again, a bit. Or re-reading rather.
* Also started watching Farscape, season three; and Star Trek: Next Generation, season one. (both on DVD)
I'd forgotten that the Chineese Fingertrap episode was shown in season one. It's one of my favorite ST episodes. Heh. :)

Peacefully going back to work from lunch break I hear a screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech from my bike, and then the pedals just spins. Horay! Just what I needed... a broken bike. Gah... and this that started out as such a nice day.. *sniff*

Finally Friday.
I will go home and sleep around the clock I think... Cuddled up on the sofa with cats and my brand new fluffy, wonderful fleece blanket I picked up yesterday. (Some hooligan stole my previous fleece blanket in the laundry room a couple of weeks ago. Grr.. ) And it's pretty too. Soft green with gray/blue and white details on one side, and reverse colours on the other side, with white being the dominant colour. (The cats fell in love with it immediately too)
Oh, and my thanks to Walter. Of course I should have checked the bloody version on puTTy, now it seems to work. *sigh* Here I test software almost every day and forgot to check the damn version number... Ah well.
On another note, weather seems to not want me to take out the inlines this weekend. Rain and more rain forcasted. So we'll probably stay in (play JK:II) and then go watch a film tomorrow evening. (Panic Room most likely)

Ok, so I have a vague idea why I'm not able to read anything... could be because I have this story in my head that just won't stop nagging me. So I should really sit down and try to write it. (and no, not a chance that anyone will get to read it, no matter what :) ) I just have trouble finding the peace to actually sit down and write. I'd need some quiet evenings without distractions. (i.e. no ADSL, no irc, no tv, no cats, no chores... no SO)

Becuase at the moment I can't find the peace of mind/time to read anything really. I've been reading snippets from lots of books, but not been able to stick to one and finish it. I've not finished a book in over a month. Most unusual for me.. don't quite know why. Unsettles me.

! If anyone can enlighten me as to why puTTy keeps giving me "Server failed host key check" 2 or 3 times in a row (varying from time to time) before letting me log on to the BSD box, I'd be extremely greatfull. In a reward-medal-giving-kind of way... *sigh*... this is just so annoying...

Right. I'm back now. I hope....
Easter + very nasty cold has effectively hindered me from sitting at my computer at all. Very dreary all of it. (well, not easter, but the cold)
What's the point of being home sick from work when your head and eyes hurt so much you can't even look at tv, not to mention the monitor, I ask?! Pfft...
Anyhow, I'm almost back on track now, it feels like.
Took out the the inlines today, for a little spin. Roadpeople had been little busybodies and cleaned away the gravel early this year!
Altogether it was nice. Felt it in my feet though.. I need to start practicing :)
Ran across a couple of friends while out there and got to watch some sword technique. Quite interesting... and I was also tempted to add to my swordcollection. One of the swords they had brought was really nice.
More news tomorrow maybe, if I get bored at work (after being away for a week.. fat chance of that happening!)
Anyway, it's been a nice, quiet birthday all in all. Thank you, everyone who've thought of me. :)
